Some particulars of the family of Wykeham, 1821.

Manuscript, in a single hand, of a history of the Wykeham family from 1400 to 1800. The work begins with an extended biography of William Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, including a description of his political activity and an explanation of his coat of arms, followed by a genealogical tracing of William Wykeham's sister and her descendants. The volume is prefaced by an introduction in which the author ascribes the genesis of his project to his acquaintance with Fiennes Wykeham, Esq., and his desire "to learn all I could of a family which has obtained in Kent so very large an access of fortune." Bound into the volume are genealogical trees of the families of Wykeham and Fiennes and a printed page with an engraved plate of the house of William Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester in Waltham, Hampshire, with a brief biography. Pasted in are an engraving of the Virgin Mary, labeled "William Wykeham's supposed Patroness;" and a color painting of a cornucopia of fruit.
